Macarena Villalón

Macarena is a Mountain Trekking Guide and Ski Instructor from Vallecitos, a high mountain village (3000 meters of altitude) located at Plata Mountain Chain, in the Andes of Mendoza, Argentina.

While living at the feet of 4000 to 6000 meters mountains in the Andes Range, the contact with glaciers, snow and mountains are part of her everyday life, where she feels at home. She has experience in trekking/expeditions in Patagonia and Cuyo mountains and glaciers, taking people to experience adventures while managing risks and safety.

In 2024, she completed her first season working in trips to Antarctica, the Falkland Islands, and South Georgia Island as an expedition guide on a ship, where she gave bilingual lectures on glaciology and geography, led hikes in the mentioned areas, conducted excursions in inflatable boats (zodiac), and led snowshoe treks.

She is also a Certified English-Spanish Translator from Aconcagua University. With her linguistic expertise, she bridges cultures, while her passion for exploration brings people closer to nature. While living in Mendoza, home of the highest peak of America, Mt. Aconcagua (mountain where she completed a solo ascent via its normal route in 2019), she was influenced by mountain life and snow since she was born.

She finds inspiration in nature and music, and enjoys back-country skiing, rock climbing and hiking.
